This very special podcast featuring our father, Butch Nuding, releases on a very special day, his 78th birthday. So, happy birthday, Daddy! We love you very much. 😍

In early January, Crystal and I road tripped to the ranch with our friend and soil sister Nicolette Costanzo, who is graciously documenting moments of our adventures as new farmers. We checked on the progress of our cool season cover crop and sat down to talk about the history of our family’s operation with our dad.

During that conversation, we dove into the rich history of our fifth-generation family ranch in West Texas. We discussed everything from the establishing of JD Patterson Ranch by our great-great-grandfather Jefferson Davis Patterson in 1887 to modern challenges and adaptations in farming and ranching.

Daddy shared personal anecdotes and insights into the evolution of ranch operations. We discussed inheritance taxes, the importance of trust structures, succession planning, and his hope for the ranch's future.

This episode is a heartfelt conversation about family, heritage, and the journey toward regenerative ranching.

Happy farming and healthy living, y’all!

Love,

Jo (and Crystal) ❤️
