Hi, y’all! Johanna here from the TX Soil Sisters. This week’s show is a replay of our Soil Sisters Radio Hour that originally aired on KLKT-LP Radio Lockhart on June 19. If you’re not local to Lockhart, TX, you can catch the show streaming live every Wednesday from 5-6p at KLKT.org.

On this Soil Sisters radio hour, we unpack our shared frustrations about the overwhelming presence of chemicals in daily life and their health and environmental implications. We discuss the frequency alignment between hemp and the human body and why hemp is a better alternative to so many of the synthetic materials currently used across major industries like health/beauty, fashion, and construction.

We also address broader issues like urban sprawl and the decline of farmland, advocating for regenerative agriculture as a viable solution. Through our dialogue, we emphasize the importance of asking for help, creating community among farmers, and shifting to mindful methods of preserving agricultural landscapes and improving quality of life. This episode encapsulates the farming community's emotional and practical challenges and the importance of conscious consumerism. NOTE: We reference the impactful documentary, Roots So Deep, that we highly recommend renting!

Improving your shopping, eating, and personal habits is a journey, not a destination. But awareness is the first step to get you on your right path. And if you’re like me, reading labels will be an education of its own which I hope inspires you to clean out your cabinets, refrigerator, make-up bag and medicine cabinet… and grow your own food or buy it from local producers in your community.

But don’t let it overwhelm you like I was at the start of this week’s show. 🤪

Happy farming and healthy living, y’all!

Love,

Jo (and Crystal) ❤️

Originally aired on KLKT-LP Radio Lockhart. 📻 There was a technical difficulty with the feed so you might notice some slight background echoing. We cleaned it up as much as possible so it’s not distracting from the convo. And the problem in the studio is now fixed! ⚡️

ROOTS SO DEEP

Guided by director and wrangler of scientists Peter Byck, Roots So Deep (you can see the devil down there) is a four-part documentary series that explores the world of adaptive cattle farmers and their conventional farming neighbors.

Alongside this journey, a team of pioneering scientists conduct groundbreaking research, investigating the costs and benefits of grazing practices in harmony with nature versus those in conflict with it.
