On The Road And Radio with The Soil Sisters
Hi, y’all! Johanna here from the TX Soil Sisters. I'm excited to share a recap from our new radio show on KLKT-LP, 107.9 Radio Lockhart. We’ll archive those weekly broadcasts here on our podcast feed. Join us as we talk through this week’s adventures in regen farming and soil health, and the grand opening of Panda Biotech’s hemp gin. (Link to the show below. Or skip my fluff and listen here.)
Catching Up from Wichita Falls - Hemp Gin Grand Opening
Crystal called me from the station in Lockhart to discuss the grand opening ceremony of the Panda Biotech hemp gin I attended. Being at the opening of the hemp gin was incredible. This is the largest hemp processing facility in the Americas, covering a whopping 500,000 square feet on a 97-acre site.
The event highlighted the investment and innovation being poured into hemp agriculture. One of the most fun parts of the event was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, where a hemp denim ribbon was used instead of the traditional one. Everyone left with a hemp bag and all of the printed materials were on hemp paper—such a thoughtful touch!
As TX Soil Sisters, we’re proud of the movement we’re helping to create. Farming and ranching is in a state of crisis all over the country. By blending traditional wisdom and family/steward knowledge of the land with modern innovations, Crystal and I are focused on redefining farming and ranching in all of our communities.
Our journey, although challenging at times, is paving the way for a brighter, healthier, greener future - because agriculture is a huge part of the solution for so many of the problems we face as a human species - climate, waste, pollution, poisoned food system, disease, allergies - the list goes on. Feel free to add in the comments section below. :)
I hope you’re inspired to get curious on ways you, too, can be part of the solution. Or get going if you already know. ACT! Take better care of yourself and Mother Earth. Experiment in your own backyard and then share what you’re learning with your tribe. If you walk the walk, folks will run to catch up and walk alongside you. And we gotta keep moving to stay healthy so everybody’s winning.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore the fascinating world of systems level science and regenerative agriculture for farmers, ranchers, urban and backyard gardeners, and conscious creators. Until next time, remember that the soil under our feet holds the key to our future.
Happy farming and healthy living, y’all!
Love,
Jo (and Crystal) ❤️
